Michael Joseph Jackson (* 29. August 1958 in Gary, Indiana; † 25. Juni 2009 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien)
war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger, Komponist, Tänzer und Entertainer.
Mit weltweit mehr als 750 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern[1] war Jackson
einer der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Musiker in der Geschichte der Popmusik
und wird King of Pop genannt. Zudem war er für seine karitativen Aktivitäten bekannt.
So ist er im Guinness-Buch als der Popstar, der an die meisten Organisationen gespendet hatte, aufgeführt.

Jackson wurde bereits als Kind Teil der in den 1970er-Jahren populären Band The Jackson Five.
Als Solokünstler veröffentlichte er 1982 mit Thriller das bis heute weltweit meistverkaufte Album.
Ebenfalls weltweiten Erfolg hatte er mit den Alben Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987),
Dangerous (1991), HIStory (1995), Blood on the Dance Floor (1997) und Invincible (2001).

Michael Jackson, der "King of Pop", ist tot. Der größte Popstar aller Zeiten starb am Donnerstag, dem 25.Juni 2009 unerwartet mit nur 50 Jahren.

Michael Joseph Jackson, besser bekannt als Michael Jackson oder "The King of Pop" hat bis heute etwa 400 Millionen Tonträger verkauft und ist damit einer der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Musiker der Welt.

Nach Welterfolgen mit den Jackson 5 startete Michael Jackson 1971 im Alter von 13 Jahren seine Solokarriere mit der ersten Single "Got To Be There/Maria". Kurz darauf erschien Michael Jackson zum ersten Mal auf der Kinoleinwand. In "The Wiz - - Das zauberhafte Land" spielte Michael Jackson neben u.a. Diana Ross die Rolle der Vogelscheuche. Am 1. Dezember 1982 erschien Michael Jacksons Album "Thriller", das heute mit 108 Millionen Tonträgern das meistverkaufte Album der Welt ist.

Als unverwechselbar gelten noch immer Michael Jacksons Markenzeichen: ein weißer Glitzerhandschuh, der Griff in den Schritt, die weißen Socken, sein schwarzer Hut und der sogenannte "Moonwalk"!
